Craig Mongeau - Profile Editor in Chief - November 2026
Recognition is always appreciated, but the honors that mean the most are those that reflect the work we strive to do every day. For Superintendent's Profile, receiving the 2026 VISION Award from the New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways Inc. (NYSAOTSOH) is one of those moments. Please see the story on Page 8 about this award.
Presented during the association's annual conference in Saratoga, N.Y., the award represents more than an achievement for our publication. It reinforces the importance of the relationships, communication and collaboration that keep New York's highway and public works industry moving forward.
VISION stands for Vendors, Involved, Supportive, Influential, Outreaching and Networking. These principles speak directly to the role we believe a trade publication should play in the industry it serves. Our responsibility extends beyond telling your stories or presenting products and services. It is about bringing people together, sharing knowledge and helping strengthen the connections that make a difference in communities across New York State.
Every day, highway superintendents, commissioners of public works and municipal professionals face the responsibility of maintaining roads, managing equipment, addressing infrastructure needs and delivering essential services to their residents. Their work is demanding, often taking place under difficult conditions and within the realities of limited budgets, staffing challenges and growing expectations.
Supporting these professionals requires an industry that works together, including manufacturers, dealers, associations and us. We see that connection as central to our mission.
Our relationship with NYSAOTSOH and its members is an important part of that community. The association brings together dedicated professionals whose experience and knowledge are essential to the future of local infrastructure. We are grateful to its leadership and executive committee for this recognition and for the opportunity to continue supporting the people they represent.
As we look ahead, this honor strengthens our commitment to all of you.
Awards are milestones, but they also establish expectations. For us, the VISION Award is an encouragement to keep asking how we can better serve our readers, strengthen industry partnerships and contribute to the exchange of ideas that benefits communities throughout New York.
We accept this recognition with gratitude and a clear sense of responsibility. Thank you.
And one last thing: This issue went to press before the N.Y.S. Highway Public Works Expo happened, so please see our full coverage of the event in the next issue. P
